A friend of mine owns a rustic furniture manufacturing business and occasionally has a call for relief carving on bed rails (above) or on table legs (above, center). This particular customer wanted a different carving on each leg of her kitchen table.

"A new concept in kitchen design"

Consider your kitchen cabinets with either an accent design or a panoramic view around the kitchen of your choice in three dimensional cedar, after which the pattern is destroyed so you have the only one of its kind in existence. This concept can be extended to almost any room in the house, and limited only to your imagination. For example:

  • Entertainment cabinet doors

  • Wine cabinet doors

  • Dart board cabinet doors

  • and full size doors as seen below

Let your imagination go and experience the thrill of having functional art forms in your home that will be the focal point in any room, and the envy of all your friends.

This picture is named "Spirit Mountain" to depict the animals the Indians relied on for food ,
clothing, cooking utensils, and many more necessities of life. There are five animals and one
eagle hidden in the snow and rock formations on the mountain.
There are well over 1300 pieces of wood in this picture, and it measures 27 1/2" x 37".

Religious pictures are always an inspiration to me, and I feel that the talent I have was a gift to be used to reflect the beauty all around us that He created.

Custom pine cabinet doors, relief carved with the same cabin scene in three seasons and deer antler knobs.

Occasionally custom pieces of furniture are requested. This is a rustic bathroom vanity of white pine and red cedar. A custom granite top will be installed after it is in place.

This custom-built blanket chest was made for a lady in Colorado. It has hand-carved front handles and front feet, as well as an aromatic cedar floor.

The chest is assembled, an aromatic cedar floor is installed, and is made ready for the lid and end handles. The lid support hinges are installed and the piece is ready to sell.

This picture was inspired by a Christmas card; I loved the nostalgia

Created from my imagination, and my recollections of my younger years.

This picture was created from a photo of a sailboat on Lake Lanier, Georgia.

One Door - Two Sides

This shows two sides of the same door. This started out as a glass door from which the glass was removed, stripped of all paint, stained to match the customer's trim, reconstructed, and the
artwork created on each side. Hinges and hasp are actually made of wood; hammered and painted to resemble forged metal.

This picture shows one side of a sample door. A hollow-core door was used and the window area was cut out; framed window trim and artwork created; then curtains were applied to the exterior of the window to add dimension. Trim was also applied to the lower section of the door to make it appear to be an exterior door.

These two doors were constructed by the owners. The artwork was applied to the face of each door, some pine overlaid and stained to match the doors, and once again, the hinges and deadbolts are hammered and painted wood. These doors are in the entry foyer of the house. The owners Lou & Joyce are from the Blue Ridge, Georgia area (rockinghorse@tds.net) They also have a wet bar in their living room, for which they wanted a set of bi-fold doors made. This was to be created in the form of a picture. The doors, as well as the track, were a new challenge, but the end result is shown in the picture below. The door seams were hidden in the artwork, and a pair of deer antlers became the handles.

Sample doors showing just a few of the endless design ideas that can be used on either interior or exterior doors. Designs are created for the individual client, according to their lifestyle. It makes no difference what style your home is, we can create an artistic focal point for you. All framed art and doors are strictly one of a kind, and patterns are destroyed after completion of each piece. Plaques, on the other hand, may be made several times, although the background wood may vary in type and may be stained to enhance the artwork, which is NEVER stained -- possibly wood-burned for detail -- and a clear finish applied.

Wildlife has as many variations and subjects as any artist could ask for.

This picture, of all that I have done, holds the most sentimental value. At one of the shows I attended, a woman brought a young blind lady in my booth, and explained that she had been blind since birth. She then asked if the young lady could touch the  picture, as her sense of touch was quite keen. I said there was no problem as it was all glued solid. The young lady proceeded to tell me what she saw in the picture, the tree, the bird, the mountains, the buck, the fawn, the doe, and the fact that the doe was drinking in the pool of water. My wife and I just stood there in awe. That was a moving experience, in that it showed me that this is an art form that can even be seen by touch.

The beauty of this style art is that you can also go outside the frame for effect.

50th Anniversary gift from employees to the owners!
Picture depicts the original 1954 ford dump truck they started the business with, the original sawdust barn, the newest 1964 truck, the front loader in the building and the sawdust (made of actual sawdust from cutting the cedar).

I have adopted a slogan that is sort of fitting to my work:
If the mind of man can conceive it, I can create it in wood art.
I also guarantee satisfaction. If you're not satisfied, I charge you double.
(Sure does cut down on complaints.) JUST KIDDING!!!

I do love what I do, and I would love to do it for you!
